Magical Maps is a unique map software program covering the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and the Quetico Wilderness Provincial Park.  The creator of this sofware is also a licensed BWCAW guide and map maker.

Where is the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness?

The Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) wilderness is located in Superior National Forest, located along the Ontario border of north eastern Minnesota. The BWCA contains more than 1 Million+ acres of pure wilderness - with more than 1100 drinking water quality glacial lakes, connecting rivers and streams.  

Sound fantastic? It is! If you like fishing - there's always plenty of catching to be done here.

Where is the Quetico Wilderness Provincial Park?

The Quetico Park lies directly across the Canadian border from the BWCA wilderness.  This Canadian wilderness provincial park is approximately 1.5 million acres in size with over 1500 lakes and connecting rivers.

See all of the Boundary Waters or Quetico at once, or, zoom in up to 7x by left clicking the mouse, or by right clicking the mouse and selecting one of seven zoom levels. (x6 shown below)


Easily find any lake, entry point (on BWCA maps), campsite, portage and canoe routes. For the BWCAW you can see hiking and ski trails too. To find any lake in the Boundary Waters, (see image above) right click on the map, and select ‘Zoom To | Find Area’. Click a lake name from the list or type the name in at the top of the page.


For up to date fishing info, get a list of DNR maps and fish/lake surveys by right clicking your mouse on any lake and select 'Region Data | Search' from the popup menu. To view a map or survey just click the name of the document you want to see (see image above). There are over 625 fish/lake surveys and 600+ depth/soil/cover type maps available for you to view, edit or print. (*Editing DNR maps requires a picture editing software that supports .tiff files. Kodak Imaging software that comes with windows will let you view and print the DNR maps). 


Drag and drop photos, sound files, web pages or whatever directly on the maps!

 
 1. Drag any file from Windows Explorer and drop it anywhere on the BWCAW map.   2. Just point to the icon to see the name of the linked file.

3. To view the file you placed on the map, just click the file name and you will see the it open in a separate window.
